Tell Us ONce Service

The Tell Us Once service is a convenient way to report a death to most government organisations in one step. When you register the death, the registrar will inform you if this service is available in your area. If it is, you’ll need to register to use it within 84 days after registering the death. This service saves time by notifying multiple departments, such as HMRC, the Department for Work and Pensions, and the local council, all at once.

There’s also the Death Notification Service, a similar option that allows you to notify a range of banks and building societies. This service is especially helpful for managing the deceased’s financial affairs and ensures accounts are properly closed or transferred.
